Adding Picture tracks

When you want to present a slide show or "stills" as part of your QuickTime movie, you use the Picture track.

To insert a Picture track:

1 With a movie open in the Movie Viewer window, click the Show TimeLine Window button ()on the toolbar.

2 Drag the Picture Track icon from the QuickTime tab of the Objects palette onto the track list area of the TimeLine Window.

3 In the Basic tab of the Picture Inspector, enter a name in the Title box, or double-click the track name in the track list, and then set the other properties.

4 Click the Images tab of the Picture Inspector.

5 Choose whether to insert or replace images:

Insert Image Inserts the new images at the current time marker position.

Replace Images Replaces the old images with new images starting at the current time marker position and lasting for a duration that you set in the Slideshow Time Interval and Loop settings. For example, in an existing Picture track with a 10-second duration, move the Time Cursor to 00:00:04.00. Then, set the Slideshow Time Interval to one (1) second and import three new images with the Loop set to one (1). The resulting duration of these three images will be three seconds, and the Picture track's existing images will be replaced with the new ones from the time 00:00:04.00 to 00:00:07.00.

6 Click the Import button. Navigate to your images folder and choose an image.

7 Set the other properties:

Images Constrain Proportion When set, the images that are larger than the Picture track's dimensions will be scaled down while preserving their aspect ratio.

Background Color Sets the background color of the Picture track. Choose a color by clicking in the color field, which displays the Color palette. Choose a color in the Color palette and the background color field is automatically filled in.

Slideshow Time Interval Lets you specify each image's duration (similar to an animated GIF's interframe delay).

Loop When importing an image sequence, this specifies the number of times the sequence will loop as set in the corresponding fields. For example, create a new Picture track. Set Loop to 2. Set the Slideshow Time Interval to 1 sec. Import four images. The resulting track will have a duration of eight seconds (four images x 1 sec. interval x 2 loops). The playing sequence will be Image 1 -2 -3 -4 -1 -2 -3 -4.
